Verses 16and 17 “16For wherein shall it be known here that I and thy people have found grace in thy sight? is it not in that thou goest with us? so shall we be separated, I and thy people, from all the people that are upon the face of the earth.
17And the LORD said unto Moses, I will do this thing also that thou hast spoken: for thou hast found grace in my sight, and I know thee by name.”
God’s people must be a separated people, separated from the world, from sin, and from false religion. Furthermore, God’s people must be separated unto God. God will bless those who are separated unto Him and will be a Father unto them. But He will not fellowship with those who walk disobediently. The Bible says, “Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you. And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty” (II Corinthians 6:17-18).
